The module xusbatm is a generic DSL modem driver for Linux. Doesn't do any firmware loading etc, just transmission and reception. The user needs to take care of modem initialization, and load the module with parameters giving the endpoints to use and so forth.

Uninstall amedyn service if you have installed it.
Go to the "modules/" directory in amedyn source tree and run "make uninstall" as root.
Boot without the modem
Plug the modem on.
Try to init the modem.
If you get "ADSL line is up" your modem and line work great.
Configure /etc/amedyn and the other files needed.
If you use a kernel >= 2.6.16 you should use the xusbatm module too.
